Caden's first trip to the zoo - August 2009

Earlier this month, we took Caden to the Memphis zoo. We had originally planned to go to the water park in Philadelphia, but we found out the season closed on August 1st. We were determined to take him somewhere that Saturday so we chose the zoo. Looking back, I wish we'd waited till fall. Walking around for about 4 or 5 hours in the August heat while you're pregnant isn't the smartest thing in the world! I don't recommend it. lol Caden really loves animals so we were excited to see his reaction. At first I think he was a little overwhelmed and most of the animals were sleeping so he didn’t really get into it till we’d been there for a litte bit. I think his favorite were the fish. All of the big fish were “WHALES!!! THEY’LL EAT YOU!!”. He also really liked riding the train. I think he would have been happy to have stayed on it all day. We took the stroller, but he mainly ran everywhere so he was exhausted by the time we were finished. He was passed out in the car probably before we were out of the parking lot. We all went to eat afterwards and Caden slept on the restaurant bench the entire time. He’s NEVER done that before. The next time I post it will be announcing what our January baby will be! We find out in less than a week!!! Love, Becca
Riding w/ Nana on the way to the zoo
Checking out the pandas
Looking at 'THE WHALES!"
I think this is the first time I've ever seen a hippo out of
the water. Everytime I've been to a zoo you can only see
their backs sticking out of the water. This one proceeded to
slowly climb out of the pool and walk around very slowly. This
picture doesn't do him justice. He was HUGE!!!!
He saw this and said, "I wanna ride it" so he climbed up
and proceeded to act like a cowboy
Smiles from the train
Playing in some water
The family - notice that he's not too happy to be sitting in the stroller
Checking out a puma!
Getting a ride from dad
This was towards the end, he was starting to get fussy.
I'd just planned on him getting his feet wet...that didn't last long!
He really had fun playing in the water. "I'm swimming!"
Passed out in the car
Still passed out at the restaurant. We were there for a while too! lol
